Emergency Caffe Mocha Recipe

"Steph, Coffee doesn't fix everything."

Says who?...

I'm just playing--I haven't heard that in a looooong time, because I don't play about my coffee, boo. Don't!

Coffee is deep for me. It's my connection to my granny, and it comes through when I need a quick and temporary pick-me-up.

Like today!

I was feeling heavy(spiritually), and so was my husband (don't tell him I said that).

Neither one of us wanted to go to the coffee shop for our evening work date, so I decided to bring the coffee to us!

My husband is not a big coffee drinker at all, but he likes hot mocha lattes or white mocha lattes.

I crossed my fingers and asked if he wanted to try something out, and I gave him every single disclaimer I could before I went into the kitchen.

Now, ya girl doesn't have an espresso machine. I would take it too far if I did. What I do have is my trusty French press. I know how to make strong coffee in it, and I've perfected my recipe.

I'm a home-based barista and I take my job seriously, lol.

Anyway, I pulled out my ingredients and got to work, keeping in mind that I'd have to reduce his coffee portion by 50-75 percent--I even joked about creating specific recipes for people who want coffee without the taste of coffee (the essence of coffee) in my future coffee shop (Distant Horizons energy, honey).

Now, let's get into this recipe ^_^.

You can use any type of coffee, but I'm using Vietnamese coffee here, and I bought this from HEB.

Coffee Base

4 tablespoons of Vietnamese coffee grounds

1/2 tablespoon of grass-fed butter

A sprinkle of salt

Instructions

1. Add the coffee grounds to your French press.

2. Boil your water.

3. Add 4 ounces of the water, the butter, and the salt to the coffee grounds. Allow it to bloom for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Add the rest of the water and let it sit for 4-5 minutes.

My Husband's Caffe Mocha

1 1/2 tablespoons condensed milk

2 ounces Vietnamese coffee base

1 cup of oat milk

1 tablespoon cacao powder

2 tablespoons of water

Instructions

1. Add the cacao powder to a separate cup. Boil two tablespoons of water and add it to the cacao powder. Mix it until smooth.

2. Boil the oat milk.

3. In the same cup as the cacao powder, add the condensed milk. Once that is mixed, add the oat milk.

4. Transfer the mixture to a cup. Top the hot cacao mixture with the coffee base.

5. Ta-da! Husband approved.

My Recipe ^_^

2 tablespoons of agave nectar

6 ounces of Vietnamese coffee base

6 ounces of oat milk

2 tablespoons of cacao powder

2 tablespoons of water

Instructions

1. Same as above ^_^

My cup has some kick to it, so if you're looking for a quick pick-me-up that's also going to give you that powerful theobromine boost, try my cup. If you want something gentle, try my husband's recipe.
